Coming home with two wins and six losses may be a downer for some, but Team Manitoba is looking ahead to next year's national wheelchair championships.

Skip Chris Sobkowicz, lead Effie Loubardas, second Richard Dudek and third Dennis Thiessen returned from Ottawa Thursday afternoon and spoke with WinnipegFIRST.ca

"We were competitive even though our standings don't show it. We lost by one rock in every game of round robin play," says Dudek.

British Columbia captured the national title with a 4-2 win over Alberta in the final.

The team will host the 2008 wheelchair curling championship at the West Kildonan Curling Club. Dudek met with this year's organizers in Ottawa to ensure Winnipeg plays the perfect host for the event.

"The calibre from last year to this year has doubled. We were amazed at the skill we saw. It was a great time, but we plan to do better next year," says Dudek.

If you would like to volunteer for next year's Nationals, or help with sponsorship, contact Richard Dudek.
