Frontier College, Canada’s original literacy organization, invites all Manitoba families to celebrate Family Literacy Day on Wednesday January 27th by taking time out to read to your children, read online or even sing from a songbook to celebrate the importance of literacy.
Frontier College will celebrate Family Literacy Day at their various program sites in the city. For more information on our literacy programs in Winnipeg, contact Frontier College in Winnipeg at (204)253-7993 or visit www.frontiercollege.ca
“Literacy is an essential skill in today’s world,” says Sherry Campbell, President of Frontier College. “We’re proud to celebrate Family Literacy Day and provide literacy programming to help people reach their potential.”
Family Literacy Day was developed by ABC CANADA and Honda Canada in 1999 to celebrate families reading and learning together on a daily basis. Canadian author Robert Munsch, Honorary Chair of Family Literacy Day, has been an ambassador for family literacy for over six years and will celebrate and raise awareness for Family Literacy Day on January 27.
About Frontier College Literacy is an essential skill in today’s world. At Frontier College, we believe it’s a fundamental right. Low literacy skills are directly linked to poverty, poor health and high unemployment. Millions of adult Canadians have trouble with everyday tasks that involve reading. Through a network of thousands of volunteers, Frontier College is helping people to realize their potential and seize the opportunities that come their way.
