Jaylene Johnson is back on TV. Or rather, her music is. The Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter -- who had two songs heard in 2005 hit drama Joan of Arcadia -- has two songs placed in new NBC show Lipstick Jungle, which stars Brooke Shields.

6. The industry awards were held at a brunch on October 20. Local
artists accounted for 32 nominations in 20 different artistic and
industry categories.
Plenty of Manitoba acts will be in Moose Jaw, SK when the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards kick on on October 18. The fifth annual event features a three-night music festival, including showcases by 14 homegrown bands and solo artists spanning a variety of genres. They'll be joined by over 40 performers from B.C., Albert, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon.

It has been 20 years since MANITOBA FILM & SOUND, MARIA, and the Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association (MMPIA) were established. Doc Walker, the Juno-nominated country rock act, won Album of the Year at the 2007 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) in Regina. The awards show, which took place on September 10, was the culmination of the four-day long Canadian Country Music Week.
